There are many websites both eCommerce and services oriented that don’t do enough businesses because their websites are just not getting people to buy. One of the things you need to understand when you write and design content for a website is the psychology of the visitor who comes to your website. You need to think what they are looking for when they come on to your website. Unless they find what they are looking for they are going to leave.
One of the first things you should do is to include your toll free number right next to your logo or the name of your company. If you can’t do that then put it on the extreme right of your header followed by big bold letters reading “call now”. What this does is attracts attention of the visitor and instantly gives them a sense of the fact that this is a professional business. When you do this you should see an increase of inquiry calls to around 25% – 30%. This is especially imperative for service oriented online businesses.
The second thing you need to do is to include a very visible link to a ‘live chat’ option. Many websites include a pop-up but that can be irritating and can turn off many visitors as well. Make sure that the option is visible to everyone. You also need to make sure to describe what sets your business apart from every other business online within the first few lines. Usually visitors who arrive at your website are looking for a purpose to hire your service; they have been to other websites so they want to know what sets you apart. If you are able to give them a good reason then you have bought some more of their time and hopefully you can convert them to customers.
